At Winn Parish Medical Center, we strive to provide the best medical care to our parish and surrounding parishes. We know that going to the Emergency Department, being hospitalized, or having outpatient tests is not exactly a fun experience, but we want it to be as enjoyable as possible during your stay. Winn Parish Medical Center is focusing on the change of times. As we are all aware of the baby boomer generation starting to retire and settle into a new stage of their life, WPMC is focusing on how we can handle the needs of our seniors. Senior health problems are typically complex and require treatment by a multidisciplinary team of dedicated professionals.
Winn Parish Medical Center recognizes the value in working closely with other geriatric providers such as nursing homes, long term acute care facilities, and assisted living centers, and rehabilitation centers. Our local physicians see patients in our facility as well as in the nursing homes. By having our local physicians working together to provide care at our hospital and the nursing homes it allows for a smoother transition from hospital to nursing home and nursing home to hospital.
Geriatric Services
Winn Parish is honored to serve the health and wellness needs of our seniors by offering services specifically designed for older adults. Patients or residents are transported to our hospital for a wide variety of treatments and are always met with a knowledgeable team of professionals. In addition, WPMC offers opportunities for the active seniors to stay active and informed about a variety of topics. Services and programs offered for seniors include:

- WPMC Seniors Choice Club (luncheon, etc.)

Inpatient Programs
Here at Winn Parish Medical we work closely with our area nursing homes, assisted living centers, home health agencies, and rehabilitation hospitals so that the transition from facility to facility is as smooth as possible. Our Emergency Department is open 24 hours, 7 days a week and prepared for any emergency. In the event we can not provide the service you need we are able to transfer you to our hospital partner Rapides Regional Medical Center. Some other systems used to provide excellent inpatient care include:
- Barcode scanning of medications, the industry gold standard
- Rapid-response teams for quick response to patient condition
- In-house wound care by licensed physical therapist
- Detailed discharge planning involving family
- Medication reconciliation
- Automatic faxing of radiology reports and Laboratory results
- Dedicated fall prevention program to help ensure patient safety during their stay

As always we provide quality physical therapy, laboratory, and radiological services with fast results here at our facility. We do have the ability to come to you to draw blood for lab or use our mini x-ray machine to provide high quality diagnostic radiographic procedures.
